John B. Weiss, MD

James C. Counce, MD
J. Russell Davis, MD joined Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic in 2003 after completing his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate education at Tulane University and received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Board certified in General Surgery, Dr. Davis specializes in open-heart surgery, vascular and thoracic surgery including repair of thoracic aneurysms as well as treating lung-related diseases. He also performs minimally invasive surgeries for hyperhydrosis, atrial fibrillation and gastro-esophageal reflux as well as the MAZE procedure. He completed his General Surgery residency at Baptist Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia where he received the Resident of the Year award, the Resident Award in Trauma Surgery and the Mercer University Resident Teaching Award. He has also been featured on “Trauma-Life in the ER” and “Code Blue” which have been broadcast on “The Learning Channel”. Dr. Davis is a member of the Southern Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons Candidate Group. He is currently on staff at four local hospitals.
Pam Merritt, RN joined Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic in 1978 and is the Director of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas in 1974. She continued to work towards her Master’s Degree until 1976 when she enrolled in Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock. She graduated from nursing school in 1978 and was subsequently hired by Dr. John Weiss as his surgical nurse. Ms. Merritt has been instrumental in setting up the cardiac surgery programs at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County, Washington Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers. She serves on the American Heart Association’s Women’s Health Committee and serves on the Board for the Walker Heart Institute at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Rebecca Bluse, RN came to work at Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic in 1996 after working for ten years as a scrub/circulating nurse in the cardiovascular operating room and two years in the general operating room at Northwest Medical Center of Washington County. She attended school to meet her Licensed Practical Nursing requirements at Sequoyah Practical Nursing School in Fayetteville, Arkansas from 1973 to 1974. After graduation she worked at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock and North Little Rock Memorial. She also worked in private practice in Texarkana for two years. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Texarkana Community College in 1983. She travels with Latin American Missions to South America where she provides general health exams and inoculations to people in impoverished areas. Susan Page, RN joined Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic in 1997 after graduating from Baptist School of Nursing in Springdale, Arkansas in 1993. She worked for 3 years in the surgical intensive care unit at Washington Regional Medical Center of Washington County prior to joining the clinic. She received a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Arkansas in 1983. She was employed at J.B. Hunt for ten years as a Marketing Manager after graduation. Ms. Page helped establish the cardiac surgery program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers. Susan is a member of the North Arkansas Symphony Guild. Thomas G. Simmons, PA-C joined Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic in 2002 after working in surgical service for over 10 years at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is a board certified Physician’s Assistant who graduated from Bowman-Gray Medical School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1986. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas in 1984. The Administrative staff at Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic is trained to assist our patients and family members with issues ranging from appointment scheduling to insurance questions and financial counseling. Each member of our staff is trained to help ease the burden of the business aspect of your surgery so you can focus on your recovery. Celia Chronister serves as Business Manager of our clinic. She has over 30 years of business experience and is responsible for the financial, legal and managed care coordination aspects of the clinic’s operation. Celia is available for patient financial counseling and insurance reimbursement questions. If you are experiencing financial hardship, Celia can help direct you to local resources and answer any questions you might have about self-insured payment. Jennifer Haskett is the Office Manager, handling patient billing and insurance questions. If you have any questions concerning insurance participation or payment or you need to set up monthly payments, you may contact Jennifer to assist you. Laurel Joe is the Clinic Coordinator and is responsible for scheduling patient appointments and radiology or laboratory testing. Jaime Daniels handles the more technical areas of coding and insurance billing. She is responsible for correctly reporting the specific procedure the patient has undergone and billing the appropriate insurance company. Tammy Miller is the clinic’s receptionist. She answers the majority of the phone calls and is responsible for handling the patient’s medical records. Any requests for copies of medical records should be submitted to Tammy.
